Google Extends Updates to 10 Years for Chromebooks After Outcry from School Systems

To save a consistent stream of income, Google extended Chromebook updates to 10 years, to the relief of many a school board. Chromebooks usually fall out of Google’s update window five and eight years after purchase, at which time schools must buy new Chromebooks. Without Google updates, even perfectly usable Chromebooks are rendered useless due to access and security limitations for out-of-date operating systems.
